These month-in-review posts let us (Lisa and Alan) highlight the popular posts of the month, and also let us acknowledge our readers. Even if you don’t leave a comment, and we don’t give you a shout-out specifically, know that we appreciate your readership.

- By far the most comments we have ever received (on a non-giveaway post) is January’s announcement of our second baby. THANK YOU for sharing in our excitement!
- Why does my 2-yr-old have PMS?
- Our 2012 year-in-review got lots of views in Jan.
- How being pregnant and being a toddler are oddly similar — this post was even featured on BlogHer. Can we get a holla?
- My attempt to start running in 2012.

- Tania commented that I was a focused blogger — a mom who also loves to shoot pictures. It’s awesome when someone else sees the same vision you see for your blog.
- Henry thinks Alan should be a hand model after his work here. Haha!
- Andrea recommended Mean Moms Rule: why doing the hard stuff now creates good kids later when responding to why our 2-yr old has PMS. Can’t wait to check it out!
- You recommended some great apps and gear to help with my running: Pandora and iHeartRadio for music // RunKeeper and Nike for measuring a run // A heart rate monitor with GPS (Polar or Garmin) // a Fuelbelt // 0 to 5K for running prompts
- Just from the few times I have read and been to your blog you and your husband seem like a loving couple who are ready and able to embark on another round of parenthood — wow! Thanks, Illusyon!

Maybe “featured” is a strong word, but here are where expandng has been mentioned in January
. Thanks for thinking about expandng, ladies!
- JenKakio: Review of 2012: A time to say Thank You.
- Sweet Tiny Blessings (technically Dec, but I’m gonna count it): Mandi reminded me of how we met
- SoMi Speaks: Honored to be mentioned as one of her three favorite blogs. Also helped her, along with others, fill-in her photo-a-day project prompts.
- I shared an abbreviated version of my birth story on Bumble of Joy
- Judy unveiled her new blog header, which we collaborated on! Thanks for the mention!
- Lou Lou Loves is back to blogging, for what she’s calling an Epic year, with huge news. No, she’s not pregnant but did acknowledge my pregnancy
. Tks girl! - Pregnancy-toddler similarity post featured on BlogHer!

- Feb 10: Chinese New Year. Hot pot anyone?
- Feb 14: Valentine’s Day. Excuse to get a ‘sitter and enjoy a long, quiet, fancy meal.
- Feb 18: Getting the day off, with our 2.5-yr (J) still in daycare.
- All of Feb: Photo-a-day project with Nilsa of SoMi Speaks.
- All of Feb: continuing to read The Host, which isn’t as bad as I initially thought.
Stand-out memories of January?
Looking forward to in February?

The big question is which one tickles you pink more: all the comments on your pregnancy announcement or being featured on BlogHer??? =)
Nilsa, that is a HARD question to answer. I loved seeing the high number of comments on the announcement, and hearing from ppl who otherwise don’t post comments, but also felt giddy that such a big site would recognize my lil post and wondered how they even found me. Does that answer your question
.
I am so glad that you and Alan will go to dinner on valentines day. My parents rarely celebrate any of these types of occasions… And enjoy the day off while j is in daycare
Enjoy reading the Host! I had a really hard time getting through the beginning but John (who had read it before me) told me to stick to it because it gets much better later! So glad I took his advice because I ended up really enjoying it! Definitely better than the Twilight series in my opinion. Though I’m not sure how well they will be able to portray many of the things that happen in the book in the movie.
Also, so glad we were able to feature your birth story on Bumble of Joy!
I’m looking forward to February 15th … my last day of work … and the beginning of my 1 month paternity leave!
Me too! =)
expandng had a terrific January. Congratulations! I hope February brings more of the same (but more consistent temperatures). February is a great month. My wife’s birthday is near Valentine’s Day, so it’s really a special time.
(Alan, Don’t fall into the trap of wanting to do something grand for Valentine’s Day!!! It’s great for that one day, but raises the bar. Whatever you do next year won’t be enough. The pressure will be awful! You’ll try to make up for it by making other holidays all about the wife and kids and soon all you’ll have left is your birthday. I lost Father’s Day two years ago. DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! Remember, just small variations up and down from one V-Day to the next. Now, pretend I said nothing and slowly walk away from the computer.)
I’m looking forward to a moms bible study that I just started today. And when I picked up Baby C from the nursery, the worker said she is a good, little girl with a large vocabulary. I think this is so funny because I just got done sharing with the ladies at my bible study table that I’m pretty quiet and shy.
Thank you for counting me in your shout-outs, even though it was December.
Sounds like you have a lot to look forward to in February!
Hey girl…you deserve being featured and mention more often! Thanks for featuring me on your blog all the time. It makes me happy!!!!!!
Congrats on your soon-to-be new baby! Very exciting news!
Great recap post! Congrats on your BlogHer feature! We are going to our first Chinese New Year celebration this weekend and I’m really looking forward to it. I bought some red envelopes and my understanding is that I put money in the envelopes for each of the children at the celebration (?). Are toys/chocolate a no no? I’m so worried that I’m accidentally going to do something “unlucky”…
Hi Stephanie!
Tks for the congrats!
Yes, traditionally the married adults give money in red envelopes to the children (and single people, but don’t know how traditional you all are). I once gave gifts to my cousins for CNY (even tho I was single and didn’t technically have to do anything), and they were so confused, haha!
Congratulations! What an awesome January girl and thank you so much for the mention.
I definitely see the focus mama!
